MAP (Pressure) Sensor

1. Construction
The MAP sensor consists of a standard SIRO2 sensor bonded into a stainless steel head. The head incorporates two threaded tube connectors for gas in and gas out. Internal gas flow is via a stainless steel capillary and ceramic tube.
All components in direct contact with the gas stream are stainless steel or alumina ceramic.

Installation
The sensor tip must be heated to a temperature of at least 700°C, in air. Position the sensor symmetrically in the hot zone of the heater. Check that the impedance of the sensor is less than 10 kohms and that the air-to-air signal is less than 2 mV.
Pump reference gas into the end connection and remove it from the top connection. The gas flow rate should be in the range 0.1 - 0.3 l/min.
The DC mV signal will then indicate the oxygen concentration, according to the Nernst equation.
