Belt conveyors that carry sticky and extremely adherent materials represent a special challenge with regard to belt cleaning. Many types of material tend to stick to the belt after the discharge point and leave a carryback layer on the belt surface, which can reach several centimeters in some cases. Under such working conditions, it is necessary to use a pre-cleaning system in conjunction with a main scraper.
The HD-PU-S is a wedge-shaped pre-scraper installed on the discharge pulley to reduce the thickness of the material sticking to the belt surface and reduce the load on the main scraper. Tungsten carbide cleaning tips maximise blade life on even the most abrasive material. These tips range up to 20mm x 8mm, the largest on the market. Working at the 3-4 o’clock position on the head pulley, the removed material is deflected into the chute and re-directed into the main flow of material.
The elastic properties of polyurethane allow the cleaning blocks to deflect on contact with irregularities on the belt surface (mechanical splices for example). A rugged assembly carrier is designed to stay rigid through heavy material flow, guaranteeing high belt contact no matter the conditions. Preset tensioning units keep blades in contact with the belt with no further adjustment necessary for the full life of the blades. Once the blade has reached the end if its life, it arrives at a fixed stop, preventing damage to the belt.
