Handheld POS Keeps Supermarket Staff On The Shop Floor

Farmers Foodworks Dallas recently converted their store software to Vectron POS. Making full use of the handheld, staff can run stocktakes, price changes, markdowns etc without leaving the shop floor.

Called Shop-Ezi, Vectron's POS system is designed specifically for supermarket and grocery outlets.

With three other stores and a head office already running Shop Ezi, the new owners needed to convert Dallas over as soon as the sale was complete.

The data conversion took place on a Sunday night as well as the conversion/install of three of the existing tills. Some of the original equipment was utilised, but most hardware was replaced with Shop Ezi’s touchscreens, mobile POS, pc printers and cash drawers.

This of course, meant live training on the POS on the Monday morning. Apart from a few basic operational queries it went rather smoothly.

Also part of the Shop-Ezi software suite, Farmers Foodworks Dallas is using Ezi-Mobile. These wireless handheld ordering units allow stock takes, price changes, markdowns and much more to be done all on the shop floor. The handheld uses the live back office database so staff are always looking at current data, making managing markdowns and price changes a breeze.

Deli, Meat and Fruit & Veg scales are also connected to the back office, allowing office staff to take care of any price changes and promotions. This frees up the fresh department staff are to do what they do best.

The Shop-Ezi suite of software allows maximum profit for minimal effort. The product portfolio includes systems for point of sale, back office, order and inventory control, shop floor scanning, ordering kiosk, self service and cctv.
