Enware has recently released a new whitepaper addressing the need to push the ‘Changing Places’ initiative.

Changing Places is a project to support the installation of full sized change tables and hoists in public toilets within major public spaces across Australia, to meet the needs of people with severe and profound disabilities.

Everyday, thousands of Australians deal with the hardship of living with a disability. That is why we have designed a range of products to ensure that those in need are provided with sanitary and risk free environments within public amenities. We are committed this project to ensure that in the future, nobody has to plan their days out around the only toilet they can use in the vicinity.

In a first for an Australian hospital, the Children's Hospital at Westmead launched a Changing Place facility. It meets the needs of families whose severely disabled children are adult sized. The facility includes a toilet, hoist and adult size change table, with enough room for two carers.

This was a long term project that took over 2 years to complete but in the end it was realised with product being sponsored and donated. Enware & Pressalit jointly donated the height adjustable change table which is key to a fully useable facility for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities/ Often these people cannot use standard accessible toilets, as they need support from one or two carers, without a height adjustable change table carers and families are forced to risk their own health and safety by changing their daughter or son on a toilet floor!

Annette Pham (pictured above) with Liam her severely disabled son has campaigned for the facility and partnered with the Hospital to make this a reality. It is wonderful to see people are already benefitting.
